Streamline Spring Clinics 2012 Spring Clinic Information is now available!
SPRING CLINICS: Streamline's spring clinics are designed for the competitive swimmer (ages 6-14) who would like to brush up on their swimming skills prior to the summer swim team season. Streamline's coaches will focus on improving stroke technique and efficiency, learning proper starts and turns, and building endurance in a "swim team practice" format.We will utilize stroke drills, interval training, and fun games and relays to help build your child’s swimming performance and confidence in all aspects of the competitive swimming environment. Streamline will offer 3 levels of instruction this spring. Group descriptions can be seen below.
Dates: April 10 - May 12 (Tues/Sat or Thurs/Sat)
Days/Times (Hammerheads and Great Whites will swim together on Saturdays only): Tiger Sharks: weekdays 5:00-5:45, Saturdays 1:00-2:00 Makos: weekdays 5:45-6:30, Saturdays 2:00-3:00 Hammerheads: weekdays 6:30-7:15, Saturdays 3:00-4:00 Great Whites: weekdays 7:15-8:00, Saturdays 3:00-4:00
Cost: $150 (10 classes)
Registration: Priority registration for current swim league members: February 1-15, 2012 Open registration for new Streamline swimmers: February 20, 2012
New Swimmer Registration Process: If you are a new swimmer please e-mail us on or after February 20th at Kristen@streamlineswimschool.com to request a registration form. In your request please include your swimmer's name/age, desired swim group (see requirements & descriptions below) as well as parent contact information. If there is an open spot in your desired group we will forward you a registration form and place your swimmer on the roster. If not, you will be placed on a waiting list and contacted should a spot become available. Please note that no registration forms will be released to new swimmers prior to February 20th.
Assessment - date TBD All new Tiger Shark swimmers must pass our assessment before spots are secured. If your child does not pass the assessment a full refund will be given. All other swimmers will be assessed on the first day of clinics and if needed changes to their swim group (up or down) may be made by the coaches.
STREAMLINE SWIM GROUPS
TIGER SHARKS: The Tiger Sharks are our entry level swimming group. This group is designed for swimmers age 6-8 who can swim freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke independently & nonstop for the entire length of a 25 yard pool. The goals of the Tiger Shark group are to improve stroke technique in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, learn proper diving and backstroke starts, build swimmer endurance, and introduce the butterfly.
Minimum requirements for the Tiger Shark group: 4x25 freestyle with 45 seconds rest between laps. 4x25 backstroke with 45 seconds rest between laps. Understanding of the basic breaststroke mechanics. Must be able to tread water for 1 minute in the deep end of the pool. Must be 6 years of age by the start of the program on April 10, 2012. Must be able to complete 400-700 yards in a 1 hour practice session. One season of summer swim team experience preferred!
MAKOS: Swimmers in the Mako group are generally 7-10 years of age and have either graduated from our Tiger Shark program or have the skills necessary to complete the requirements below. Our goals for this group include improving stroke technique in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke as well as butterfly. In addition to stroke drills, we will place a strong emphasis on building endurance and speed through the introduction of interval training. We will continue to work on diving and backstroke starts and will introduce flips turns for freestyle.
Minimum requirements for the Mako group: 4x50 freestyle on 1:40 (complete swim within 1:10 with a 30 second rest, repeat) 50 yards nonstop of both backstroke and breaststroke. 25 yards nonstop of butterfly. Must be able to complete 700-1000 total yards in a 1 hour practice session. At least one year of summer swim team is required!
HAMMERHEADS: The Hammerhead group is geared toward swimmers age 9-12 who have a solid foundation in the sport of swimming. Swimmers in this group generally have 3+ years of summer swim team or other competitive swim team experience. Hammerhead swimmers are comfortable swimming all 4 competitive strokes, have strong endurance and have a clear understanding of stroke drills, interval training and competitive swimming rules. Our goal for the Hammerhead group is to build endurance and speed while continuously focusing on the technique of all competitive strokes, starts and turns.
Minimum requirements for the Hammerhead group: 6x50 freestyle on 1:25 (complete swim within :55 and rest for 30 seconds, repeat). Can complete a nonstop 100 IM (25 yards of each stroke; fly, back, breast, free). Must be able to complete 1000-1300 yards in a 1 hour practice session. At least 2-3 years of swim team experience required!
GREAT WHITES: This top Streamline swimming group is designed for swimmers who are ready to graduate from our Hammerhead program or who are coming to us with extensive summer or other year round swim team experience. To be eligible for the Great Whites swimmers should be proficient (and legal) in all 4 competitive strokes and be able to complete the skill requirements below. This group's main focus will be speed & endurance. We will also continue working on stroke technique as well as starts, turns and finishes for all 4 competitive strokes. Swimmers in this group are typically 10+ and are serious about improving in all aspects of their sport.
Requirements for the Great Whites: 6x50 freestyle on 1:15 (complete swim within 45 and rest for 30 seconds, repeat) Can complete a nonstop 200 IM (50 yards of eack stroke: fly, back, breast, free) All strokes must be legal. Able to complete 1300-1600 yards in a 1 hour practice session. Extensive swim team experience required.
